Announcing the 2009
KIDS CLAY CAMP for ages 8-13 (exceptions made for younger and
older on a case-by-case basis)
I am planning two one-week sessions of KIDS CLAY CAMP to run for a total
of 5 days each .The hours are 1:30-4:30 each day.
The first session will
meet for 4 days from Monday August 17th through Thursday August 20th .
The second session will meet for 4 days from Monday August
24th through
Thursday August 27th. (this session is now full)
For the 5th day of the session we will schedule a day on an upcoming
weekend (to be agreed upon collectively) to glaze the pots we've made.
(The reason for this scheduling is that the pots have to have time to
dry and be fired before they can be glazed and decorated. After
they are glazed, they will be fired again to melt the glaze. And
approximately a week later, you can pick up the finished pieces at your
convenience) On the 4th day of each session we will make a field trip to
Sage College Albany to do a Raku firing (an exciting Japanese style fast
firing with smoke and wonderful serendipitous glaze effects) Here is a
link that describes the process:

(The kids will not be doing the pyromaniacal parts of the process)
The cost is $165 for the 5 days (includes materials) The camps will be
limited to 6 kids each. You may sign up for one or both sessions. If you
have any questions, or would like to register your child, please feel
free to call me at 439-4457 or email me at
